How To Read NCERT Books for UPSC CIVIL SERVICES EXAM

UPSC CSE aspirants are generally advised to read the NCERT Books before moving on to other bigger reference books, the reason is very simple and clear because they help you build a strong foundation. Even, from previous years question papers analysis, it has been clearly shown that questions are consistently asked directly or indirectly from NCERT books. NCERT books have concise and compact coverage of any topics which are mentioned in your UPSC Civil Services Syllabus.


How To Read NCERT Books for UPSC Civils 

  • You can choose any subject first and then, start from class 6 to 12 for that particular subject book.
  • In your first reading, try to clear every concept of topics, and then during 2nd reading, you can make your own notes.
  • Generally, for history, the old NCERT books are recommended and, for geography, new ones.
  • Create a time schedule to finish your NCERTs reading and stick to it.
